   I recently bought this HP Amazon with great delivery time. I am very disappointed with the operational program compatibility with Vista can not use software and hardware from my old HP computer. An existing high quality HP 5370C scanner not only does not work with Vista, but HP advised me they were sorry, but there would be no support in the future to use this scanner with Vista and should “consider upgrading to a new HP product. ” My new HP Pavilion Vista computer will not accept my Broderbond “The Print Shop” a popular program I use every day and said Broderbond not even have a version of The Print Shop is still available for users of Vista. My current film program Pinnacle does not work in Vista.

   I phoned HP customer service and asked if there was any way I could get XP instead of the software program Visa on your new computer and said “no.” I felt I should at least establish a procedure for new computer buyers to get XP with some kind of discount that can be used to design equipment and software to catch up with the advanced marketing of Vista.
   < , br /> The Visa system itself seems to be a great program for what can be observed so far, but let the buyer beware that compatibility with the programs and hardware on your old computer can be expensive and impossible using many cases. I am disappointed that Microsoft and HP have not made this information more available, but then seems to look after their interests and have not properly warned cerainly new Vista users this problem likely.

   As desktop computers, this is an excellent team when it ran out of the box. I have had great experience with the machine since I bought it last month from BestBuy. However, you may have problems updating in several areas. First, he found a problem when trying to upgrade to an nVidia GeForce 8800 GTS card. This is the first card supports DirectX 10 graphics and game that is the native DirectX on Windows Vista. So to experience all that Vista has to offer in that area, he needed the right card that understands the technology.

   To run the card requires at least one power supply 400W, while the kit comes with 300W. I bought a 500W power supply Antec CompUSA, and that’s what was available at the time he bought the card (PNY model from CompUSA). I changed the configuration of the power supply cables in all the right places. That was pretty good, except the main power input of the board is placed so that anywhere you need 10-30 minutes to fix because of the deterity necessary to move the connector in place. Definitely not designed for easy exchange. Disconnect the original power supply was so difficult.

   I eventually came to all components connected to the mains new, but had a problem with the second hard drive and planted it squarely in the bottom of the computer base. motherboard designs sure have changed considerably in recent years. I had to remove the TV tuner card so that the latter connection, it took about an hour after that to make the connection from the distance between SATA hard disk connectors for power was a hair of an exact length between the first connector first hard disk and the second in the bottom. These connectors are on the same line. There are two cables with two SATA connectors and an alternative configuration would not work.

The card does not use two time slots, only connects to a slot but is high enough to occupy the space that includes a second slot for the second open slot is not available for other components. The length of the card was also a problem in this computer where all the components are arranged so that there is hardly any space. An online source said that even if the card was successfully installed, may be cooling issue as a result of space consumed.

   I finally had to temporarily remove the TV tuner card that came with the computer more easily slot in the card. When I insert the TV tuner card, I realized I had left only the space of 2-5 cm between the top of the TV tuner card and nVidia bottom of the fan / cooling to case. Finally I connected the power cable for PCI-E card and was ready for testing.

   However, none of this mattered, because after three hours of work, computer will not turn on the camera. After several attempts, I decided to change the power cables into the power supply from the outside. I had one from an uninterruptible power supply and one from a normal surge. No change. I double checked all the connections. This time was 4 in the morning and decided to give it a rest.

   When I awoke, I still had a computer that does not turn on the camera. I decided I needed to get my computer working again. I restored the computer to its original configuration and replace the old power supply. No problems there and everything is working as before (hence this review). So I start to do something they should have done before. I called HP. I said that my target for the graphics card and what he had done with the power supply. They said the computer’s motherboard only support up to 350W. I just said thanks and moved to my next choice. I called the Geek Squad at Best Buy since that’s where I bought the team. I initially told them and they told me my goal should not be a problem to improve and update the model every time. So I told them what he had done before and what HP technician told me and told me not know why I said that (with respect to the power supply), but they are probably right. I asked about returning the computer, but was over 14 days.

   My original goal was to have a computer with great graphics and most of the other features of a good team at a bargain price. I just got a great global model and then update only those aspects needed. HP consumer model does not seem to be Amenia to this approach. Because of the time, money spent, and the disappointment I would have done better with a less expensive model that DELL Large components like the graphics, processor power and I could upgrade in terms of the components most commonly compatible and available such as memory and disk drives. That’s assuming you go from SATA to SAS drives would be easier. Maybe not, but there are more options in that area compared to the limits of the power supply and expansion card clearance and cooling.

   Perhaps the time, the model HP I’m stuck with the desire to take advantage of new graphics cards that support the technology later in the bottom of power, but if not, it is an expensive lesson learned. One of the reasons why to buy desktops over laptops is the ability to expand and if it is less and less a possibility, then I guess experience like this could increase consumers’ guide to laptops highest cost their desktop counterparts.

   Though I wish I bought the graphics card to work, I will be investigating the ATI 2900 cards to see if less than the physical surface and energy . Anyway, I’ll be returning the nVidia card and power supply (since I bought yesterday) if I can.

   Got one of these boys about two months ago. Has many good possibilities, Vista is a pain, more updates than spam, does not recognize the many programs and hardware. Vista is pretty good overall. H. P. technical support needs of its own technical service. If you can understand that they can participate and say that you call back in the day and talk to a technician? There system backup disk has some sort of problem, I spent 8. 5 hours making a backup of the system (?) Just to get to a blank disc (DL DVD). They have no idea. Ran a check on all drives and unprotected. I do not know why I can not enter sleep mode by keyboard shortcut or menu bar. Machine turns off and enters the standby mode, but even the boots again, changing settings manually, but no help. I like the machine, but there are plenty of bugs to work. The hard disk is 640 g 2320. Also I have to agree to further comment on the dvd dr do it all, a little on the expensive side. All that comes with a quick set up guide, there are backup disks for anything, I was lucky when I spoke to them the other day, which will send a series of backups (oh boy, something free … )

   Well, I’ve had my computer about 2 months. . . . and I am very happy with it. I work from home, and Gateway Computer have had for about 4 years without problems. . . so take long for me to buy not a gateway, but when I saw all the options on this HP, I thought I should give it a try!

   I upgraded the memory of April GB of RAM, which only costs about another $ 100 to make – well worth it, and I recommend maxing out the RAM, regardless of their team.

   So far not have run into problems with the PC. I was not sure about Vista at first, but now I really like it, too.

   In short, for the money, he worked to be less than $ 1,000 for the computer, this is the best choice.

   FYI, I bought an LG 24 “flat screen monitor for this from Circuit City, and love that too! I highly recommend This 3000:1, 2ms model – well worth the money!

   The HP M8 series Intel Core 2 centers based media are solidly built and beautiful machines. On the basis of all standard components these machines are easy to upgrade. I installed an nVidia 8600GT and a 550watt powersupply and a bigger hard drive with absolutely no problem. The integrated remote control and wireless keyboard and mouse large make this a great media center connected to a high definition television (media center – luxury that!).
   
   Anyway, I do not think that articles about not being upgradeable. There is less upgradeable than any PC based on standard components, is of solid construction, good looking, and works very well. My only negative is that I wished the cable card is capable.
