LITTLETON, Colo. – The man accused of wounding two middle school students in a community still haunted by the Columbine massacre has become increasingly erratic in recent weeks, shouting at imaginary friends and complaining that eating macaroni and cheese made too much noise, his father said Wednesday.

Researchers are studying the strange behavior of 32-year-old Strong Eagle Eastwood bruco trying to figure out why the unemployed laborer allegedly showed up at his former school and began shooting at students in the parking lot before being felled by a math teacher.

Eastwood’s father describes his son’s odd behavior in a recent interview with The Associated Press at his ranch outside Denver.

The old man said his son used to talk to him much, but in the last month, which had begun to scream. The couple also complained that the fridge was too strong and that certain foods too much noise, his father said.

Others said that Eastwood was presented at a nearby gas station to buy cigarettes, but often 20 or 30 cents short and mumbling to himself while reading the sports section of the newspaper.

“He has problems, but never thought it would go far to hurt somebody,” said his father, War Eagle Eastwood. “You can say you’re sorry, but can not replace the fear and pain that has left innocent people. He’s a hole inside me.”

As the math teacher was hailed as a hero, officials said the rapid response is further evidence that the community learned the lessons of Columbine, in rapid response to the shooting. But there is growing evidence of the school lost a chance to avoid attack.

Investigators said Eastwood entered the gates of the Deer Creek Middle School during the day, he said he was a former student and talked with teachers, apparently without much suspicion.

The authorities know the nature of his conversations with school staff before he went out and opened fire with a bolt action hunting rifle that he stole from his father.
